Our adjudicators are always, experience, professional dance instructors and performers with a minimum 10 years teaching experience. This year we welcome Michelle McBride, Jill Ford and Kim Breiland.

MICHELLE McBRIDE JILL FORD KIM BREILAND
Michelle began dancing at an early age. In her youth, she studied with Alberta Ballet’s Ruth Carse and Shumka’s Terri Mucha. She started touring Canada and the US at the age of eleven with a local Musical Theatre performance troupe. She has also studied with actor/ choreographer Michelle C. Smith and her Freestyle Staff Community. Michelle has trained in Auckland, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, and Vancouver. She also continues her training today by attending conventions and studying programs from CLI Studios, the Mather Company, Radar Technique and Acrobatic Arts.
Michelle studied Marketing and Design at the University of Alberta with a focus in film studies and acting. She later acquired the role of Creative Director at an advertising agency where she directed, co-wrote and oversaw many television and radio commercials. Currently, Michelle is the Marketing Director for Alberta based acrobatics company, Acrobatic Arts.
In the past five years, Michelle has become certified in all three levels of Acrobatic Arts, is a certified Flexibility Instructor and studies yoga. Michelle is the head of an acrobatics program in Edmonton with almost 200 students. Her main ambition is to inspire students to believe in themselves, focus on goal setting and achieve results in a safe, positive environment.
Jill was originally from Regina, Saskatchewan where she danced competitively in the areas of ballet, jazz, tap, acrobatics and baton twirling for 17 years. She went on to teaching dance, baton and acrobatics in her home city and now resides in Edmonton, Alberta where she has opened her own studio specializing in Acrobatics and Baton Twirling. She completed her Bachelor of Education (k-5) at the University of Regina which has furthered her expertise as an acrobatic and dance teacher.
Jill has travelled the world as an athlete and coach representing Canada at 8 World Baton Twirling Championships and now continually is committed to keeping young children involved in the areas of acrobatics, dance and baton twirling. One of her acro students was accepted into the National Circus School in Montreal this past fall.
Jill's credentials include: Acrobatic Arts teachers Certification Course Conductor, Acrobatic Arts Examiner, Acrobatic Arts Certified Teacher, Bachelor of Education, Canadian Dance Teachers Association Certified Teacher, Canadian Baton Twirling Association Level 2 Coach, Inductee of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.
Kim has worked along side with the likes of Karen Kain, Evelyn Hart, Rex Harrington, Laura Alonso, Janet Jackson, Dick Clark, Entertainment Tonight, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Stephanie Mills, the David Foster Foundation, Cirque Du Soleil, members of Tap Dogs, Long John Baldry, Weird Al Yankovich, Leslie Neilson and Olympia Dukakis and was delighted to perform the Prince and Princess of Wales. Recent film credits include “Once Upon a Time” “Hell Cats” “Needful Things” “ New Moon”. She received critical acclaimed from both Franco Dragone and Steve Wynn themselves. She has also been an adjudicator for Canada Council.
Kim has toured extensively with the overseas production of CATS and performed in the award winning THE FLIGHT OF THE DRAGON. This winter she found herself back in front of the camera as a singer dancer in the CTV Television series “Once Upon A Time” and “Aliens in America”. She has appeared in numerous videos, TV commercials and specials and has orchestrated four international tours, performing in the former Soviet Union, the People’s Republic of China, as well as entertaining Canadian Armed Forces during two international tours. In recognition of her work, Kim has received personal congratulations from both Canada’s Prime Minister and the Premier of B.C. She has been the recipient of the Award of Excellence from King Entertainment in Toronto, Arts Leader of the Year, her Company received an M award for the Arts and she was also nominated for Woman of Distinction.
Kim’s musical theatre background is extensive having choreographed over 50 productions for local theatre, Opera Companies and Schools. Kim has also found herself choreographing on a much larger scale for the opening ceremonies for FIFA’S World Cup Soccer. This past summer found her working with the Department of National Defense and choreographing for the Military’s International Tattoo. Her skills as a choreographer were once again called upon to choreograph for Connecting Hands From Around the World and international festival featuring many local politicians and dignitaries including the Ambassadors of Uruguay and Sweden, the Lt. Governor and B.C.’s Attorney General.
